Our Story

Moon Soaps began in 2008 with a simple love of making soap the old-fashioned way: by hand, from scratch, in small batches. What started as a one-woman passion for cold process soap and handcrafted bath and body products slowly grew into something much bigger than expected. Over the years, that little business evolved, our family became part of it, and our focus naturally found its way toward men’s grooming.
Nearly a decade after Moon began, Zachary joined the journey and brought his own skills and craftsmanship to the brand. In 2017, we introduced our first shaving soap, Old School, and discovered something special. We loved making products designed around the timeless experience of a great shave. From there, Moon Soaps began to take shape as the grooming brand it is today.
We are still a small, hands-on operation, and much of what makes Moon special comes from the fact that we do so much ourselves. Our products are made from scratch in our own workshop in California. We develop and make our soaps, pour and label our products, and prepare each order for its final destination. Zachary also turns every one of our shaving brush handles by hand, giving each brush its own character and making every one unique.
For us, making Moon Soaps has never been about simply putting another product on a shelf. It has always been about making things we are genuinely proud to use ourselves. We care about the ingredients, the way a product performs, the way it smells, and the little details that make using it enjoyable.
What began with a simple love of soap has grown into a family-built brand, but the heart of Moon has remained the same: make it ourselves, make it well, and never lose the personal touch that started it all.

Our Inspiration

Our inspiration comes from a mix of things we have always loved: classic barbershops, coastal air, vintage design, and the simple pleasure of using something that was made well.
There is a sense of nostalgia in what we create, but we are not trying to recreate the past. We take the things we love about traditional grooming and bring them together with modern ideas about performance, ingredients, and fragrance.
A scent can bring back a place or a memory. A good shave can become part of your morning. There is something about using a truly well made product, the feel of it, the scent, the performance, that can transport you somewhere else. For a few minutes, the rest of the world fades away, and you are simply immersed in the experience.
That is the feeling we try to put into everything we make.

Our Philosophy

We believe quality comes from caring about the details. It starts with the ingredients and the formulation, but it continues through every step of making the finished product.
We do not take shortcuts, and we do not believe that bigger automatically means better. Our products are made in small batches from carefully selected ingredients, with a lot of hands-on work along the way.
We want our products to perform exceptionally well, look timeless, smell great, and feel good to use. But just as important, we want them to feel like something made by real people who care about what they are making.
