"Tin Man" 26mm

$120.00

This is a Wizard of Oz-inspired handle made from a stabilized pine cone from the Santa Cruz Mountains suspended in Clear, Silver Surfer, Chrome, and Velvet pearled Alumilite resins. I’ve veered away from my typical pine cone shape on this one.

***This handle is sold without the knot (or knots) pictured. Many shave enthusiasts have a very specific knot in mind when they see a handle so we leave the option open. If you would like to add a knot to this handle you can find our current selection here.

Knot Diameter: 26mm
Socket Depth: 16.34mm
Handle Height: 59.13mm
Handle Diameter: 41.53mm
Handle Weight: 65g

All Moon shave brushes are handmade by Zachary Kent- no 2 are exactly the same.

The process starts with resin and various other materials being placed into a form and cast under pressure (60 psi) for a few hours.  The rectangular block is then removed from the form and placed on a lathe. The socket is cut for the knot, sanded, and sealed. The outer shape is then cut at a speed of about 2,000 rpm. The final shape is then sanded to 1200 grit and coated with 10 layers of super durable Cyanoacrylate finish. (Sanding between layers, of course) After the 10th layer is hardened, the handle is wet sanded to 12,000 grit. Finally, the handle gets 3 rounds of liquid plastic polish and high-speed buffing to bring out the glass-like shine. A 2-part epoxy is used to glue in the knot of your choice if gluing is requested.
